The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist express their deepest sympathy on the loss of Dee Rowe, friend and supporter. Dee was a past recipient of the Saint Francis Award, the Jim Calhoun Community Service Award and a frequent guest speaker at the Franciscan Sports Banquet and Silent Auction benefiting the mission of the Franciscan Life Center and Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care. Dee had an ongoing relationship with Mother Shaun Vergauwen, F.S.E., past Mother General of the Community and Executive Director of the Franciscan Life Center spanning over two decades.
The Sisters will be having a private Mass offered in their Chapel for Dee and his family. In the words of Jim Calhoun, “Dee was a special person. Every one of us who knew him, loved him. As good a coach as he was, no one could surpass him as a person. He was special.” Dee’s commitment and dedication to church, family, basketball and the University of Connecticut are a witness to his life as a person, husband, father, coach and ambassador.
