As the summer began to heat up, so did the excitement of 43 children who participated in the first week of the Franciscan Life Center’s Land-based Summer Experiences for Children. Almost one-third of the families were participating for the first time. In the stifling heat, classic games like “Drip, Drip, Drop” were especially popular. In between visiting the animals and making discoveries in the gardens, the groups followed the shade to stay cool.
The Land-based Summer Experiences for Children is a program of the Franciscan Life Center for children ages 6 to 12. This year, children came from thirteen towns, including out-of-state. The program is supported by generous donations from the local community, including the Cuno Foundation and the Ion Bank Foundation. At this time, there is still space in the second week from August 2 to August 6, 2021. For registration information, please call 203-237-8084.
